SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel will host Ignite Your World: Community Leadership Conference on Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is open to the public and is free of charge.

“This is going to be a morning filled with dynamic workshops from local, national and international organizations, offering opportunities for people to serve the community,” said Dr. Jon Spence, director of Evangel’s leadership program and organizer of the event.

“We are excited to bring these organizations together at one time to help educate our students and those in the community of the services they provide.”

The event will begin with a plenary session in Crusader Hall and will include a $5 breakfast. There is no charge to Evangel students for the breakfast.

Additional sessions will take place in Trask Hall, Rooms 101, 102 and 107.

Sessions will feature the following:

  • Project Rescue founder and CEO David Grant will share about the action opportunities available for those with a heart to stop human trafficking. The organization provides global awareness and opportunities for concerned partners to help bring freedom to those imprisoned in sexual slavery.
  • Convoy of Hope, a faith-based international humanitarian organization, will present their diverse programs and the new project called FeedONE, which engages college students to fight world hunger.
  • Special Olympics, the world’s largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities, will show how sports activities bring confidence, joy and fulfillment to disabled individuals.
  • Washington Studies Internship, a signature Evangel University program hosted by the social science department, provides students the opportunity to intern in Washington D.C. and learn from government and non-profit organizations making a difference in the nation.
