SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University Music Department will host their first Artist Series lecture and concert of the school year next week. Schedule of events for the Cavatino Duo:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 25, 10-10:50 a.m.

Barnett Recital Hall — The duo will hold a master class for flute and guitar.

  • Thursday, Sept. 26, 7:30 p.m.

Barnett Recital Hall — The duo will perform in concert.

Both events are free and open to the public. The Barnett Recital Hall is located on the first floor of the Barnett Fine Arts Center. Visitors can enter through the doors south of the chapel facing Glenstone Avenue.

“The central purpose of Evangel’s Artist Series is to provide opportunities for students, faculty and staff to experience and enjoy the arts,” said Linda Ligate, professor of music.

“Skilled and innovative musicians, such as the Cavatino Duo, introduce their audience to compositions, composers, musical styles and performance practices from a variety of historical periods and cultures. They also model disciplines and musicianship that potentially inspire students.”

“We have a number of excellent flute music education and performance students in the department, so this performance will be particularly appealing to them,” Ligate said. “The Cavatino Duo collaborates and brings solo repertoire and unique ensemble arrangements for both flute and guitar.”
