Evangel University sets all-time enrollment record at 2,741

Published on Sep 25, 2025 by Randy Hanner

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Evangel University’s official fall 2025 census shows a record 2,741 students—its fifth consecutive year of enrollment growth and a 4.6% increase over last fall. Since fall 2021, Evangel’s student population has grown nearly 30%, positioning the university as a national outlier during a period of widespread enrollment decline across higher education.

The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) at Evangel University, recognized a 23% increase year over year—from 335 to 414—the largest single-year gain in its 52-year history.

“This kind of unprecedented growth is only possible through God’s favor and the hard work of so many people—our faculty, staff, alumni, and church partners,” said Dr. Wade Mumm, vice president of AGTS.

Additional enrollment highlights

  • New on-campus undergraduates: up 7.0% year over year
  • College of Online Learning: up 22.7%
  • Undergraduate retention: 82.7% (vs. 69.5% national average; National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, 2025 Persistence and Retention report)

On-campus residence hall occupancy stands at 95%. Construction is underway on Daryl & Lois Flood Hall, a new residence hall slated to open next fall.

“This fall’s continued record-breaking growth reminds us that Evangel’s mission is resonating like never before,” said Dr. Mike Rakes, president of Evangel University. “Students are choosing to join us not only for our robust degree programs but because they are serious about spiritual development, authentic community, and confirming their calling. Enrollment is up, but what excites me most is the future impact of these students.”
