Evangel University to host lecture by philosopher and author Dr. Jerry Walls

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Evangel University will host a lecture by philosopher Dr. Jerry Walls on Monday, Jan. 28, at 6:45 p.m. The topic is The Great Debate; Calvinism vs. Arminianism.

The lecture will be held in Zimmerman Hall, Room 105. It is open to the public and admission is free.

Walls also will speak in the Evangel chapel service on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. This event is free of charge and is open to the public as well.

Walls is currently a senior research fellow at the Center for Philosophy of Religion at the University of Notre Dame.

He holds degrees from Houghton, Princeton, Yale and Notre Dame. He is an author, editor and contributor to more than 30 books, in addition to numerous articles and essays. He also serves as a pastor.

“While on Evangel’s campus, Walls will attend a luncheon with our faculty, speak in a philosophy class and have a Q&A meeting with the Philosophy Club,” said Dr. Brandon Schmidly, assistant professor of philosophy and chair of the theology department.

The lecture is presented jointly by Evangel University and The Society of Christian Philosophers.
