SPRINGFIELD, Missouri — Samantha Jones, Evangel University senior manager of grants and special projects, recently released her first book, “God and Trauma: The Lessons I’m Learning.” The book explores the complex relationship between trauma and faith, offering insights for those on their healing journeys based on Jones’ own story.
With a professional background that includes securing $20 million in funding for Evangel University and its partners since 2018, IT support and sales, as well as 25 years in music ministry, Jones brings a unique perspective to her writing that includes emotional depth and analytical clarity. Her personal experiences with trauma and healing have shaped her mission to provide a safe space for others navigating similar struggles.
“When I was going through the darkest time of my journey toward healing, I struggled to find a book that would dignify the pain I was feeling in a safe way,” Jones said. “My goal is to help those struggling with trauma and for this book to serve as a guide for those walking alongside someone in deep pain.”
In “God and Trauma,” Jones shares her personal faith restoration story and provides a process for those who find themselves in the dissonance between a faith-filled life and their lived experiences of suffering and injustice.
The book’s forward is written by Dr. Carol A. Taylor, former EU president, and is endorsed by current EU President Dr. Mike Rakes and other ministry leaders, including Rev. Doug Clay, Assemblies of God USA general superintendent.
Jones lives in Michigan with her husband and two children. A licensed minister with the Assemblies of God, she co-pastors a local church with her husband while also serving as a grant writer for the university. In addition to writing, she enjoys spending time with her family and in nature and expressing her thoughts through art, music, writing, and preaching.
“God and Trauma: The Lessons I’m Learning” is available on Amazon.
