SPRINGFIELD, Missouri  Evangel’s Fine Art Gallery will feature a guest artist exhibit, “Artistic Problem-Solving at Work and Play,” by Bill G. Yung from January 24-March 24. An opening reception will be held on Jan. 24 from 7-8:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend the reception and visit the exhibit, open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

The display includes hyper-realistic bird carvings, finely detailed birdhouses, metal and wood vintage tractors, and land design solutions through mediums of pen and ink, paint, wood, metal, and wire.

Yung is a practiced landscape architect with more than 50 years of experience. He first opened a private practice in Wichita, Kansas in 1975 and relocated to Branson, Missouri in 1990, where he continues his work.

In addition to his practice, Yung is a big game hunter and has journaled about his hunting trips, resulting in a series of self-published books, which he illustrates with pen and ink sketches.

Yung holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University.

“Evangel’s guest artist shows provide students and the local community an opportunity to view the work of and meet local and regional professional artists and designers,” said Mitch Yung, EU assistant art professor. “Students learn from these artists as they discuss their working processes, including how design decisions evolve and solutions are achieved, and gain insight into the field they are studying.”

Art and Art Education degrees at Evangel combine foundational knowledge with hands-on application through its Humanities Department.
