Father daughter "Morris Duo" in concert at Evangel

Dr. Greg Morris and daughter, Sarah, perform as the “Morris Duo.”

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University will host EU Professor of Piano Dr. Greg Morris and his daughter, Sarah, in a piano concert on Monday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Barnett Recital Hall on Evangel’s campus. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

The program will feature a wide range of music performed by the father-daughter “Morris Duo”, including “The Swan” by Saint-Saens, “Carmen Fantasy” by Anderson, and “Sabre Dance” by Khachaturian.

About the Morris Duo

The Morris’ are graduates of Evangel University and have enjoyed playing together since Sarah was a child. Sarah studied piano for 17 years before earning her bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Evangel University. She also holds master’s degrees in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from Texas Christian University, where she studied under famed pianist Harold Martina.

Sarah is also an accomplished athlete, having won numerous national titles in taekwondo. She also competes nationally in weightlifting. She is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and has presented at multiple national conferences on the positive impact of fitness training for musicians.

Dr. Greg Morris is a professor of piano in the Music Department at Evangel University. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of North Texas, a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Texas Christian University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Evangel.

He has performed around the country as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist, and has been featured on public radio. Dr. Morris is a frequent adjudicator and has conducted numerous piano masterclasses and workshops. Beyond the world of music, Greg also enjoys endurance bicycling.
