SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel University will host a free reading clinic in June for K-12 students who are seeking one-on-one literacy support. The clinic will take place June 1-24, Monday through Thursday mornings. It is the first time Evangel has offered a literacy lab.

The clinic is available to elementary, middle and high school students, whether they are in public school, private school, or home school.

In order to be eligible for the free service, parents must commit their child attending all sixteen days of the lab.

Students will receive one-on-one reading support from a graduate student enrolled in the Master of Education in Literacy program.

“This will be a benefit to students and families in our community, as well as a wonderful experience for our graduate students,” said Shonna Crawford, assistant professor of education. “We plan to continue the literacy lab each June indefinitely.”

Anyone interested in the clinic must submit their applications by April 30. Applications can be submitted to the Evangel University Education Department or via email at

For additional information, contact the department at (417) 865-2815, ext. 8548.
