SPRINGFIELD, MO — Members of the Evangel University SIFE team assisted with a luncheon featuring former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012. The event was held at the Oasis Convention Center on North Glenstone Ave.

Huckabee is a four-time New York Times Best Selling Author and host of the number-one rated weekend hit “Huckabee” on the Fox News Channel. He was the 44th governor of Arkansas, and Time Magazine honored him as one of the five best governors in America in 2005. He also ran for president in 2008.

He spoke to a crowd of approximately 200 at the noontime event sponsored by the Missouri House Republican Campaign Committee.

“This was a great opportunity for our students to get hands-on experience with a real-world business luncheon,” said Jose Socorro, a senior business major from Bayonne, N.J. “These are the types of events they might be helping coordinate when they graduate and enter the business world.”

A team of six Evangel students and one sponsor served as volunteers for the Huckabee luncheon.

Socorro also volunteers with State Rep. Shane Schoeller, speaker pro tem, one of the hosts of today’s event.

“As a former SIFE staff member at their national office, I have a great respect for Evangel University’s SIFE students and their efforts to serve a wide variety of groups in the Springfield area,” said Schoeller.
