I’ve spent the past 38 years working in education, with the last 12 dedicated to serving at Evangel University. During my time at Evangel, I’ve taught in the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in the Department of Education. I also serve as the Coordinator for both the Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction Leadership program and the Christian School Instructor Certificate program.
Before joining Evangel, I spent 17 years teaching in public schools and another 9 years as an elementary principal. That foundation continues to shape my perspective and work today. I remain closely connected to K–12 education by occasionally substituting as a teacher or principal in local schools. I view this as part of my own ongoing professional development, allowing me to stay grounded in current classroom realities and school leadership practices. These experiences enrich my university teaching and help ensure that course content remains relevant and applicable for today’s educators.
In addition to my university responsibilities, I also serve on my local school district’s School Board. I’ve had the privilege of serving three consecutive three-year terms. I love serving my community and being part of the decision-making process that impacts students, teachers, and families. It’s deeply rewarding to help shape policies and practices that support student growth and success.
Faith and family are at the heart of everything I do. I’m blessed with a supportive husband, Brian, and two amazing daughters, Lexie and Lindy. We live on our family farm in northern Greene County, where Brian raises cattle and horses and trains hunting dogs through his kennel business. At home, I proudly serve as Head Chef and Laundress—roles I’ve fully embraced. Whether we’re working on the farm, sharing a meal, or simply spending time together, I treasure the simple moments that make up our daily life.
My role as a mother has deeply influenced my approach as an educator and administrator. Whether I’m making decisions about curriculum, policies, or day-to-day school matters, I always strive to approach them with the same care and thoughtfulness I would want for my own children.
I hope that my years of experience in education can be used to guide and inspire others who feel called to teach. I believe wholeheartedly that teaching is a mission field—one where God places a desire to serve in the hearts of faithful, compassionate educators. Whether in public or private schools, this calling matters deeply. And I’m grateful every day to be part of it.
