Evangel University President Dr. Carol A. Taylor announced that Dr. Robert H. Spence, Evangel’s third president, passed away peacefully Feb. 19, 2020, from the stroke he suffered the previous weekend. He was surrounded by his family as he passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior.

President Taylor said the family had asked her to extend its gratitude for all the love and support it had received. She asked the family to continue to pray for the Spence family, especially Dr. Spence’s beloved wife, Anne. President Taylor said that Dr. Spence lived his life with great integrity and dignity in service of the King of Kings, adding that his service to Evangel and Springfield could not be overstated. She said that while we mourn his passing, we should also remember that he is now rejoicing with our Lord and Savior.
