Tell us about your career and what you do now.
When leaving CBC, my wifwe and I served in two churches in an associate pastor role. Then, we served as lead pastor at Ash Grove AG for 25 years. I have now served as superintendent of Southern Missouri for 13 ½ years. Additionally, I served as General Council Gulf Regional Executive Presbyter from 2021 to 2025.
Tell us one achievement or accomplishment that stands out in your career!
I feel my greatest accomplishment is (along with my wife) raising four daughters who are serving the Lord, happily married, and fulfilling their life calling.
What is your favorite memory from your time as a student?
My greatest memories would be the chapel services and relationships with other students. The cafeteria experience were times of relationship building and community.
How did your school help you identify/develop your calling?
CBC helped me gain deeper understanding of the Word of God. Through the practical teaching of excellent professors I grew and matured in my faith and my skills.
How did your experience as a student prepare you for life after graduation?
One of my greatest training grounds at CBC was singing in and traveling with Revivaltime Choir. This experience exposed me to a portion of the church world that I had never experienced in rural Missouri. This helped to shape my understanding of what God can do through a committed pastor and congregation.
In Evangel’s MOL program, I learned why some of the things that I was doing in leadership worked. This helped me to hone my leadership skills. It opened my mind to other concepts which I was rather ignorant of when starting the program.
What advice would you give a current student preparing for the workforce?
Continue to grow. Though I have been out of CBC for decades, I am still in growth mode. Especially in today’s changing world, continuous learning is a must to succeed as a leader.
What would you look for if you were in a position to hire new graduates from Evangel?
I would look for a young man or woman who is spiritually mature with high values and integrity. I would want the person to be willing to keep learning. As well, a good work ethic would be crucial.
