Tim Paulson is the Co-Chief Executive Officer of ESS Companies, a national heavy civil construction company with over 3,100 employees and over $1.5 Billion in revenue. Over the past 21 years with the company, he has been instrumental in every phase of the company’s growth and market expansion, guiding ESS Companies from its start as a regional Missouri-based heavy civil contractor in 2005 to a nationally recognized organization with influential partnerships and a broad impact across the country. He is an energetic leader staying in the forefront of industry advancements evolving the organization to ensure its sustained success into the future. What is your favorite memory from Evangel?
Meeting Ruthie my wife in the fall of 1991 and playing 4 years of basketball for the legendary coach Steve Jenkins while making life long friends whom I still do life with.
How did Evangel help you identify/develop your calling?
I recognize that EU provided me the opportunity to develop leadership skill early in my life that paid dividends later in my career. These skills were developed both in the classroom and on the basketball court.
How did your experience at Evangel prepare you for life after graduation?
The friends I met at EU became some of the closest friends in life. Having a cohort to call, pray with, and share or ask advice from prepared me for success in all facets of life.
What advice would you give a current student preparing for the workforce?
Build a cohort of friends. This starts with being available and vulnerable with roommates, students, and faculty.
What would you look for if you were in a position to hire new graduates from Evangel?
Passion for their purpose and work ethic. The rest is trainable.
