What brought you to Springfield?

I am originally from Texas, and I felt God’s call on my life to move to Springfield to pursue my education at Evangel. I spent a few summers in central Asia, and I knew that I wanted to dedicate my life to missions. God led me to Evangel, where I would become equipped to do just that.

How did you sense God’s calling on your life while a student at Evangel?

At Evangel, I was able to combine my love for science and my love for reaching people through missions work. By obtaining my degree in environmental science and agronomy, I have been able to use my science-focused education and my passion to connect with others to pursue a meaningful missions career.

For a long time, I felt that I had to pick either a science degree or a missions-focused degree. But I realized that I could pursue both passions while I was a student on campus. Since graduation, I’ve volunteered with Convoy of Hope and assisted them with various agricultural initiatives. I’ve tutored Muslim women in their science and biology and physics classes. My science degree has opened the door for me to make meaningful connections that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.

How did Evangel prepare you for your journey in missions?

The mentorship I received at Evangel has been so valuable in guiding me to my current role. I was not only prepared academically, but relationally to make an impact. At Evangel I developed lifelong friends and mentors who have walked on this journey with me and supported me every step of the way.

I’m a scientist and a missionary, and I was able to do that because of my experience at Evangel.

What would you say to a student considering Evangel?

Evangel was the catalyst that pushed me to answer God’s calling on my life. And He will do the same for you here. You don’t have to choose a career or a ministry. At Evangel, you’ll be empowered to do both. And you’ll find a family and a community at Evangel that you won’t find anywhere else.
