SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University and Convoy of Hope partnered together on Tuesday for the annual Valor Volunteer Day. This marks the fifth year of Evangel hosting the event.

Over 250 students, faculty, and staff gathered on campus to pack supplies for those in need in the Springfield community. The packages include groceries and hygiene items for those in the area. Over the last five years, Evangel has packaged 26,000 bags.

“It is not a small thing to be a part of God’s Kingdom. With that comes a responsibility to see, love and serve others through the Father’s eyes. We hope every student got a small taste of that!” said Chad Nelson, Compassion Coordinator at Evangel University. “
The event is hosted by the EU Community Engagement team. Junior non-profit business major and Community Engagement team member, Abby Katke, says this day is bigger than just packing supply bags.
“Through Valor Volunteer Day, 35 local organizations received groceries and hygiene supplies,” said Katke. “Our heart is that this is not simply an event, but the culture at Evangel.”
