SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) at Evangel University announces the launch of its first-ever Spanish-language Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree. The program marks a significant milestone in addressing the needs of Hispanic leaders within the Assemblies of God fellowship and beyond. The first cohort begins this fall.

The D.Min. degree is tailored for men and women actively engaged in full-time ministry. With a focus on integrating theological reflection into practical ministry contexts, the program enhances participants’ professional competencies while fostering personal and spiritual growth.

“This is the first fully accredited D.Min. program within the Assemblies of God fellowship designed exclusively for Hispanic ministers, offering instruction entirely in Spanish and led by experienced Hispanic theologians,” said Dr. Sergio Navarrete, director of AGTS’ Hispanic Initiative.

The 30-credit-hour program features a Contextual Leadership track designed to address modern ministry demands. Courses are delivered online with three-day in person modulars and one international course to accommodate full-time ministry schedules while allowing for an immersive learning experience.

“This initiative is more than an academic offering—it’s a bold step forward in equipping and empowering leaders within the Hispanic community,” said Dr. John Battaglia, director of the Doctor of Ministry program and chair and professor of the seminary’s Practical Theology Department. “We are excited to launch this program and invite Hispanic ministers to consider this tailored opportunity for leadership development and academic excellence.”

By offering this degree in Spanish, AGTS is expanding access to high-level academic training for Hispanic ministry leaders, empowering them to lead local church congregations and impact local communities with greater effectiveness.
