Ben Blevins to perform senior voice recital Friday, Nov. 8

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Ben Blevins, senior music recording industry technology major, will perform his senior recital Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall.

Blevins will be accompanied by Carol Wilson, area musician.

The recital is free, and the public is welcome to attend.

Act I

“Toglietemi la vita ancor” (from Il Pompeo), by Alessandro Scarlatti

“Le Secret,” by Gabriel Faure

“Die Wetterfahne,” by Franz Schubert

“Warm as the Autumn Light” (from The Ballad of Baby Doe), by Douglas Moore

Act II

“Agony (from Into the Woods), by Stephen Sondheim

During Blevins’ first act of the recital, the pieces will feature music consisting of vocal art songs and arias from the baroque and romantic periods, whereas the second half will consist of modern Broadway pieces and sea shanties.

In addition to his solo pieces, Blevins will also have two duet pieces in his recital. He will perform “Agony,” with Evangel senior Chris Ragain and “Lily’s Eyes” with brother and 2013 Evangel alumnus, Sam Blevins.

Blevins is the trumpet section leader for the marching band, bass section leader for university chorus and a member of chorale and concert choir.

After graduation he hopes to compose music for video game scoring, media productions and studio work.
