Community invited to participate in Evangel’s 2022 Homecoming activities

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The community is invited to attend several key events as part of Evangel University’s annual Homecoming celebration on October 27-29.

Public activities include a kickoff concert, groundbreaking ceremony for Valor Center, and athletic events. Various department-specific events are also taking place throughout the weekend.

Homecoming festivities kick off on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. with a showcase by the Evangel University Music Department featuring various choral and instrumental performances. The showcase will be held in the Barnett Recital Hall. Admission is free.

Valor Center Rendering

On Friday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m., the university will break ground on the Valor Center, which includes the Randy Rowden Training Facility. The new building will feature an indoor arena for basketball and volleyball games and other events, locker rooms, state of the art weight and training rooms, and coaching offices. The ceremony will be held west of the Ashcroft Center near Coryell Field.

Also on Friday, the men’s and women’s soccer teams will face Graceland University at Evangel’s Coryell Field. The ladies game will start at 3 p.m. and the men’s game will begin at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The Evangel University football team will take on MidAmerica Nazarene University at Nixa High School’s stadium on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance on the EU Athletics website for a discounted rate. Admission at the gate is $10 per ticket for adults; 12 and under are free.
