SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – EU Films, Evangel University’s student media organization, will premiere its latest feature film, Dying To Live, on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 6 and 8 p.m. in Barnett Recital Hall, located in the Fine Arts Building on Evangel’s campus. The public is invited to attend this free event.
The film tells the story of a young woman named Emy who finds out she has two months left to live. The news is disappointing enough, but things get worse when she comes to grips with her lousy job, lousy boyfriend, and all-around lousy life. Emy and her friends, Reese, Jordan, and Oliver, decide she is not going down without a fight.

“Though the tone may hint at dark comedy, the movie unfolds a fun story while also considering the gravity of someone’s life coming to an end,” said Dr. Cameron Pace, EU Films adviser, executive producer, and Communication Department chair. The film was co-written by junior Nicholas McKinley, who also directed, and senior Jocelyn Squires. Seniors Mackenzie Franks and Natalie Hedgpeth-Clark developed the original story, with Franks serving as producer.
The cast primarily features Evangel students and staff. Junior Addilyn Delcamp stars as Emy, with junior Alex Keeling as Oliver, Abigail Sundahl (local actress) as Reese, and freshman Corbin Moore as Jordan. Dr. Robert Bartels, EU’s director of human resources, appears as Emy’s boss, and Dr. Mark Kelton, professor of communication, portrays her doctor.
Film staff include Director of Photography Elijah Wright, junior; Chief Editor Titus Smith, senior; Audio Supervisor Obed Cordero, junior; Assistant Director Miriella Dilse, senior; Assistant Editor Elijah Vannatta, senior; and Assistant Audio Manager Nicholas Brownlee, sophomore.
Each year, students in EU’s Film Workshop course produce a 30-to-60-minute feature film and participate as staff, crew, and writers, culminating in a public premiere. More information about EU Films may be found on its Facebook page.
