Community invited to signature music performances at Evangel University

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University’s Music Department will host a series of annual performances featuring its signature bands and ensembles. All events are offered as free admission, and the public is invited to attend.

The series begins with the University Orchestra concert on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Spence Chapel on Evangel’s campus. The concert will be directed by Dr. Larry Dissmore, director of orchestral activities and professor of music.

Additional performances include:

  • Chorus and Chorale Concert: Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
  • Jazz Combo and Jazz Band Concert: Thursday, Nov. 14 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
  • Honor’s Recital: Monday, Nov. 18, 5-6 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
  • University Band Concert: Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in Spence Chapel
  • Vocal Chamber Ensembles Recital: Thursday, Nov. 21 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
  • 40th Annual Christmas Concert: Friday, Dec. 6 from 7-8:30 p.m. in Spence Chapel

Mr. Justin Stanton, director of bands, will lead the University Band, Jazz Combo, and Jazz Band concerts.

The EU Chorus and Chorale Concert will feature performances by the University Chorus, directed by Dr. Kevin Hawkins, and the University Chorale, directed by Dr. Tom Matrone, chair of the Music Department and director of choral activities.

The Vocal Chamber Ensembles Recital will include performances by the Men’s Vocal Ensemble, Women’s Chamber Ensemble, and Voices of EU, a student-led a cappella ensemble. The Men’s and Women’s Ensembles are directed by Matrone. The Men’s Ensemble will be co-directed by Nick Arnberger, EU Music Education student.
