Published on Dec 7, 2021 by Erin Hedlun

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — EU Films, a media group within Evangel’s Communication Department, will present the student-produced psychological thriller “Isolated” with showings at 6 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 9 in the Barnett Recital Hall on Evangel’s campus. The community is invited to attend this free premier.

The film highlights four main characters, Liam (Wyatt Long), Taya (Kaylee Clay), Eli (Jachin Like’), and Zoe (Taryn Huffman), who wake up to find themselves confined as prisoners in separate rooms with no recollection of their past lives.

Additional student involvement includes Assistant Producer Catherine Dunnick, Director of Photography Nathan Griffey, Audio Supervisor Kirby Groves, Assistant Audio Technician Nathanael Lamb, Chief Editor Wyatt Long, Assistant Editor Grant Kosanke, and Assistant Director Lauren Cox. The film is based on an original script by Wyatt Long and Kaylee Clay.

Each semester, students in the Film Workshop course produce a feature film that is 30 to 60 minutes in length.  Students participate as staff, crew, and writers. Films are supervised by Executive Producer and Communication Department Chair Dr. Cameron Pace.

The creative process

“The experience is always fun,” said Brady Rosenthal, director. “The best part about making a film is working with other people, learning more about them, and growing as a group.”

Approximately 15 students were involved with the production of the film.

“As a new actor, showing up and experiencing the environment on set has been so much fun,” said Wyatt Long, lead actor and film editor. “I feel like the crew has been amazing and getting to connect with other students who have the same passion for film has been the best part of this experience.”

Evangel’s Communication Department prepares students to pursue careers within various communication-related fields. Students study video, audio and film production, journalism, public relations, advertising, public speaking, multimedia design, and much more – all applied through methods of electronic media, print, and oral communication.
