SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University is expanding its on-campus housing options to include a dedicated dormitory for students pursuing graduate-level studies. The move comes as the university identifies ways to make pursuing a graduate degree even more accessible and affordable to the growing population of students it serves.
Though many of Evangel’s graduate degrees are offered fully online, a range of programs are also available as fully seated options, including several degrees at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.
The university will designate Spence Hall for graduate student housing. It will also be available via an application process to incoming undergraduate students who are older than traditional freshman students. The residence director apartment attached to the west side of the dorm will be converted to a community kitchen for residents. Students staying in Spence Hall may rent single rooms or entire suites. The dorm will be open to both male and female students, with designated wings for each.
“The opportunity to provide a cost-effective housing option for our graduate and non-traditional undergraduate students is another way we are enhancing the student experience at Evangel,” said Dr. Mike Rakes, EU president. “This hall will accommodate the stage of life these students are in and allow for a cost-effective and convenient option for living in Springfield while pursuing their degree at EU. They will also be able to take part in the vibrant community life that is a hallmark of the EU student experience.”
Traditional undergrad students currently living in Spence Hall will relocate to neighboring Scott Hall next semester.
Individuals interested in pursuing a graduate degree at Evangel and who are in need of local housing should contact Evangel’s Housing Director Jared Chatfield at housing@evangel.edu or call 417.865.2815 ext. 4663.
