SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Evangel University Music Department’s annual Christmas concert will be featured on KY3’s sister stations KSPR and the Ozarks CW on Christmas Day. The one-hour special will air at 5 a.m. on KSPR (ABC), at 6:00 a.m. on KY3 (NBC), and at 8 a.m. on the Ozarks CW.
“Evangel University has a long-standing tradition of celebrating the holiday season with the local community via our annual Christmas concert,” said Tom Matrone, chair of EU’s Music Department. “We are honored to partner with KY3 for a third year to present this one-hour Christmas special highlighting Evangel’s talented student musicians and directors.”
Feature groups include the Evangel University Chorus, Men’s Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Band, Evangel University Orchestra and Band, Women’s Chamber Ensemble, and University Chorale.
Song selections range from classical to traditional such as the EU Chorus and Chorale’s presentation of seasonal favorite “O Come All Ye Faithful,” Dan Goeller’s well-known arrangement of “A Christmas Festival of Carols,” which will be performed by EU’s combined orchestra and band, Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith’s “Christmas Hymn,” and Handel’s majestic “Hallelujah” chorus.
