Jeremy Harris, assistant professor of computer science, has earned a Ph.D. in computing technology in education from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Throughout his doctoral studies, Harris researched Internet-based Distance Education, or IDE, within Assemblies of God higher education.
“IDE is growing in importance in AG higher education,” Harris said. “Almost half of the 18 AG schools offer completely online degrees for both traditional and non-traditional students while the majority either offer some degrees and courses, or are looking to enter the online education arena within the next year.”
Harris said that schools want to collaborate to reach more online students and improve the quality of AG online education.
“AG faculty overwhelmingly believe that online education should be of prominent importance at their respective institutions,” Harris said.
A 1994 graduate of Evangel’s music department, Harris has been teaching at Evangel since 2004. Prior to this, he taught as an adjunct. Harris is also the faculty administrator of ANGEL, Evangel’s online learning system.
Harris has a master’s degree in both vocal performance and business administration from Missouri State University.
Harris’ wife Erica, a 1995 Evangel graduate, also works at the university as assistant professor of biology. The couple has three children.
