SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University and Convoy of Hope are partnering together for the first annual Valor Volunteer Day on Evangel’s campus today from 3 – 5 p.m. Students, faculty, and staff will pack groceries to be distributed by Convoy of Hope at upcoming community outreach events around the country. In total, 6,000 bags of groceries will be assembled.

The event is co-hosted by EU’s CROSSwalk student ministries group and the Center for Compassion, which offers a Community Relief & Development degree and promotes a theology of compassion through community engagement and its degree program.

“We want to demonstrate compassionate service to our community and beyond,” said Melissa Pulis, Center for Compassion associate director. “We also want this event to help foster an ethos of compassion throughout the Evangel community. We are proud to do this in partnership with Convoy of Hope.”

The event will be held on the quad, a central common area on Evangel’s campus.
