SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Evangel University Department of Social Sciences presented the Regius Award to retired Colonel Timothy Shearer, 1983 graduate, during the department’s annual banquet on Thursday, April 3, 2014.
Since 1990, Evangel’s social sciences department has presented an annual Regius Award to honor its alumni for outstanding professional accomplishments.
As a recipient of the Regius Award, Shearer received a glass statuette in the shape of a shield with an image of a knight embedded in it.
“The department is very thankful for Tim’s commitment to his country through his military service and for his civic engagement as a public administrator,” said Dr. Bryan Sanders, chair of the department. “He has distinguished himself in a number of ways and we want to honor him as one of our social science graduates.
“This is especially exciting for me because Tim and I attended Evangel at the same time, so I get to honor one of my classmates for the first time since I have been on the faculty.”
