Evangel University Enactus team first runner-up at regionals

Published on Jun 14, 2013 by Hallie Kilavos

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University Enactus team (formerly known as SIFE, Students in Free Enterprise) won first runner-up at the regional competition in Rogers, Ark., during the spring semester.

The regional competition is a showcase of how students are transforming lives and enabling progress through entrepreneurial action. The team had 17 minutes to present a year of activities followed by six minutes of questions from the judges.

“The students answered with details because they actually designed, implemented, judged the results, and wrote their own projects,” said Elizabeth Fletcher, Enactus faculty advisor. “They represented themselves and Evangel with excellence.”

Their projects included: SIG, Redemptive Recycling, Let’s Can Hunger, Feet That Move, Samoa SORTS and the Northern Asia International Business Study Trip.

During their trip, the students also had opportunity to meet with past EU SIFE/PBL president Chase Tacker. He serves as senior manager, corporate finance, at the Wal-Mart corporate offices in Bentonville, Ark.

A tour of Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville and additional networking opportunities during a luncheon with business executives rounded out the experience for the students.
