SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University’s Fine Arts & Design Gallery will feature an exhibition of watercolor and oil works by local artist Robert Langford from January 23 to March 6. An artist reception will be held January 23 from 7–8:30 p.m., and the public is invited to attend.
Langford is a 1981 graduate of the University of Arkansas and served as a public school art educator for 36 years before retiring in 2018. His work includes landscapes, portraits, still lifes, scenes from daily life, and black-and-white film photography. His paintings are part of the permanent collections of the Springfield Art Museum and the Fort Smith Art Center, and his work is held by private collectors including Alan Jackson, Mike Wolfe, and Silver Dollar City co-founders Sherry and Jack Herschend.
“We are thrilled to have the work of Robert Langford on display in our gallery,” said Mitch Yung, Evangel University assistant professor of art. “His dedication to painting and craftsmanship is an example of how artistic gifts can be used to create works of beauty.”
The gallery is located in the Barnett Fine Arts Center on Evangel University’s campus and is open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Visitors should check in at the reception desk in the Welcome Center (Riggs Administration Building).
