SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University’s Music Department will celebrate its 41st annual Christmas concert on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Robert H. Spence Chapel on Evangel’s campus. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
Admission is free with the donation of a non-perishable food item and/or a monetary contribution to benefit the Salvation Army.
This year’s concert will include performances by the Evangel University Chorus, Men’s Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Band, Evangel University Orchestra and Band, Women’s Chamber Ensemble, and University Chorale.
The evening will feature Christmas music spanning a variety of styles, from classical to festive, including the EU Chorus and Chorale’s presentation of seasonal favorite “O Come All Ye Faithful,” Dan Goeller’s well-known arrangement of “A Christmas Festival of Carols,” performed by EU’s combined orchestra and band, Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith’s “Christmas Hymn,” and Handel’s majestic “Hallelujah” chorus.
“We look forward to welcoming all to campus for a night of celebration through song, as we have now for over 40 years,” said Dr. Tom Matrone, EU Music Department chair. “It’s also our privilege to support the Salvation Army’s important work to assist those in need here in our community.”
The Salvation Army’s national Christmas campaign helps provide food, clothing, toys, and support services to more than six million people each year. Proceeds from the concert will go to support these ongoing efforts.
The event will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
