SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Erica Daniels, assistant professor of counseling, recently earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University. Daniels teaches and provides supervision for students in EU’s graduate counseling programs.
For her dissertation, titled “School Counseling Site Supervision: A Grounded Theory Inquiry,” Daniels performed a qualitative study to develop a theoretical framework for understanding how school counseling site supervisors provide supervision to masters-level counseling students. The study documents how participants engage in providing supervision and how that supervision is impacted by lack of training and education.
“Adding to the limited pool of research on this subject will not only change how school counselors provide site supervision but also impact how educators support school counseling site supervisors,” Daniels said. “I am also hopeful this research will make a significant impact on the way we educate counseling students at Evangel.”
Daniels has over 15 years of professional experience as a high school counselor and has presented at conferences on the topics of mental health, self-care, supervision, and leadership in school counseling.
In addition to her Ph.D., Daniels holds a master’s degree in professional school counseling from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of William and Mary.
