SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University’s Theatre is set to receive a lighting and circuitry upgrade thanks to a generous gift from a private donor. The theatre, a central venue in the Barnett Fine Arts Center, was constructed in 2001. Over the past two decades, technology, specifically in the areas of lighting and circuitry, has revolutionized theaters and other performance venues throughout the world.

This spring, state of the art LED lighting and enhanced circuitry will be installed, upgrading the current two area lighting configuration to over 30. The upgrade will not only enhance performances, but bolster training for current and future Theatre students in the practice areas of Lighting and Stage Design. It will also provide an energy savings to the university.

The total cost of the lighting and circuitry upgrades is estimated at $50,000.

“We are grateful for the generosity of this private donor who values the production quality and training provided by our Theatre program,” said Dr. Vickie Wisdom, professor of theatre. “These lighting upgrades will further enhance our student’s hands-on stage experience and improve the visual elements of our numerous productions.”

The Theatre program at Evangel University is a vibrant offering through its Humanities Department.
