SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University has once again been recognized as a 2025-26 College of Distinction (COD), marking the ninth time the university has earned the honor. In addition to the overall designation, Evangel’s Business and Education departments received individual recognition for innovative approaches to student learning and development.
Evangel was also named an International College of Distinction for the second consecutive year, a recognition given to institutions that provide outstanding support services to international students, helping them thrive during their academic journey.
Colleges of Distinction evaluates schools in four key areas: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant communities, and successful outcomes. Unlike rankings that emphasize prestige-driven metrics, COD highlights institutions that demonstrate educational impact and personalized student support. Recognized practices include first-year seminars, collaborative projects, undergraduate research, global learning opportunities, and internships.
“Evangel has crafted a campus culture where students are empowered to take ownership of their learning,” said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer at Colleges of Distinction. “Its programs reflect the kind of innovation and intentionality that prepare students for life after graduation.”
Departmental honors
- Business: Recognition is awarded to programs that successfully blend classroom theory with real-world application, equipping graduates to lead with confidence, integrity, and adaptability.
- Education: Recognition is given to programs that consistently graduate confident, compassionate, and classroom-ready teachers through key measurables such as accreditation, program stability, and meaningful field experiences.
In addition, Evangel earned recognition as a Christian College of Distinction and a Missouri College of Distinction.
COD has been evaluating institutions and helping students find their best-fit school since 2000.
