SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University’s president recently announced a fully funded innovation and compassion faculty grant to elevate the student experience and promote innovative teaching methods. A total of three $10,000 departmental scholarships are available.

Dr. Mike Rakes, Evangel University President

“The goal of this faculty grant is to increase the level of student accomplishments and promote creative and compassionate engagement in the world around them,” said Dr. Mike Rakes, Evangel University president. “We are focused on instilling an ethos of innovation and compassion into every student on our campus, and faculty members are the driving force of that initiative. They must be equipped in order to equip our students.”

Faculty members must apply for grant funds on behalf of their respective departments, and the money may be used to purchase new equipment, software, or mobile applications, engage in research, pursue faculty development opportunities, or cover travel expenses to attend professional conferences that will enhance their ability to elevate student learning specifically in the areas of compassion and/or innovation.

Applications will be reviewed by a grant selection committee made up of members of the president’s cabinet and winners will be announced as part of the university’s commencement activities this spring.

The Office of the President seeks to bolster the research reputation, societal impact, and innovation footprint of the university. This funding provides a practical way for faculty members to embed innovation and compassion into their teaching in efforts to positively impact students’ lives and future professional careers.
