Published on Nov 20, 2012 by Jennifer Hall

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Evangel University Department of Music will present its 29th Annual Christmas Concert at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, in the Chapel Auditorium.

The program will include performances by the Evangel University Orchestra, Chorale, Chorus, Jazz Orchestra, Handbells and Marching Band Drumline.

This year’s special guest is the Boys Choir of Springfield.

Admission to the concert will include a nonperishable/canned food item or cash donation to benefit the Salvation Army. The public is invited to attend.

The event will be hosted by two Evangel graduates: Steve Grant, Emmy award-winning news anchor at KY3, and Brandon Beck, KY3 Stormteam meteorologist.

“Evangel’s annual Christmas concert is an exciting kick-off for the holiday season,” said Dr. Michael Kolstad, music department chair. “This is a tradition that many in the community look forward to every year.”

More than 350 Evangel students and faculty are involved in the production, according to Kolstad. “We are excited to present this gift of the season to our staff, faculty and community,” he said.

The Salvation Army’s nationwide campaign enables them to provide food, toys and clothing to more than six million people during the Christmas season.
