SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — More than 165 graduates will be honored at Evangel University’s third annual Graduate and Professional Studies baccalaureate ceremony at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, in the Chapel Auditorium.

The speaker will be President Robert H. Spence.

A reception will be held in Crusader Hall immediately following the assembly.

Although Evangel’s graduate programs were launched in 1998 and the professional studies programs began in 2000, this is only the third time that a separate baccalaureate and honors assembly is being held for this group of students.

“Because of their work schedules, participation in the traditional Thursday afternoon baccalaureate and honors ceremony has been a hardship for this group of students,” said Dr. Jeffery Fulks, director of Graduate and Professional Studies.

“Since they also need to attend the Friday commencement, it requires two days away from work. We anticipate this being a great evening to give special honor to this important group of Evangel University graduates,” Fulks said.

During the assembly, awards will be given to professional studies students and the graduate students will be hooded. A Call to Service will then be given to the graduates by a representative from each of these groups.

On Friday, May 4, at 9:30 a.m., they will be joining the graduates from the entire university for Evangel’s 54th annual commencement, which will be held at James River Assembly of God.
