The Evangel University Faculty Brass Quintet will present their annual concert in the recital hall of the Barnett Fine Arts Center on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public. The Fine Arts Center is located south of the Robert H. Spence Chapel, facing Glenstone Ave.

The group serves as the brass quintet-in-residence at Evangel University. Members are Tim Wootton and Darren Eddington on trumpets, Dr. Eric Jackson on horn, Matt Moore on trombone and Dwight Davis on tuba.

In addition to playing for university functions, the quintet enjoys performing in the surrounding community through concerts, clinics, workshops and other events.

“This year’s program features one of the great original compositions for brass quintet; Eric Ewazen’s Colchester Fantasy,” said Wootton. “Ewazen’s music is a favorite among brass players and audiences alike. His compositions are known for beautiful melodies, interesting harmonies and being very easy to listen to.

“The remainder of our program will feature arrangements of well-known melodies with a brand new composition mixed in. We look forward to sharing an evening of great melodies with the Evangel community.”

The concert will also be online and available to watch live: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/evangel-university-music
