Faculty to Participate in Pentecostal Studies Conference

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Society for Pentecostal Studies will hold their annual meeting in Virginia Beach, Va., Feb. 29-March 3, 2012.

The theme of the Society for Pentecostal Studies meeting is Pentecostalisms, Peacemaking, and Social Justice/Righteousness. Conference sessions will include a very wide variety of topics and will explore the roles that Pentecostal Christians have in addressing these topics.

The following scholars from Evangel University and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary will present workshops and chair breakout sessions at the conference:

  • Dr. Martin Mittelstadt, Evangel
  • Dr. Doug Olena, Evangel
  • Meghan Musy, Evangel alum/Missouri State University graduate student
  • Dr. Roger Cotton, AGTS
  • Dr. Johan Mostert, AGTS
  • Dan Morrison, AGTS alum
  • Kristen Harvey, AGTS student
  • Svetlana Papazov, AGTS

Individuals interested in Pentecostal/Charismatic renewal studies are welcome to attend. Membership requirements are outlined.

The SPS was founded in 1970 by three scholars, including the late Dr. William Menzies, who was the chair of the biblical studies department at Evangel. Menzies served as the first president of SPS and the first editor of its journal, Pneuma.
