SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Dr. Bryan Sanders has been elected treasurer of the Greene County Historical Society. Sanders serves as chair of the Department of Social Sciences at Evangel University.

The Greene County Historical Society’s purpose is to foster and maintain interest in the history of the Springfield community through projects and various programs. The society brings in speakers to discuss historical events of Greene County and produces various publications.

“Over the years, Evangel University has developed a culture of community involvement,” Sanders said. “Dr. J. Calvin Holsinger, my predecessor as department chair, has served as Greene County Historical Society president as well as a member of many other community organizations.”

“I think it is important for faculty to be involved in the community, and this is an organization that ties into my academic field,” Sanders said.

Sanders has been a member of the Evangel University faculty since 1990. He received his bachelor of science degree from Evangel and his juris doctorate degree from Oral Roberts University.
