Allison Newport, a junior management major at Evangel University, was recently selected to be one of 15 students from across the USA to serve on the Enactus Student Advisory Committee during the 2017-2018 school year.
“We received many applications, but your passion and dedication stood out,” said Lauren Lindsay when advising Newport of her selection. Lindsay will chair the committee and is from the University of Florida.
“I’m so excited to represent Evangel and all Enactus students on this Committee,” said Newport, a native of Andover, Kan.
The Student Advisory Committee was created by Enactus two years ago to represent the student voice by providing feedback, generating new ideas and supporting Enactus initiatives. The committee will meet at least once every three months via conference call, as well as in person at the NW Arkansas Partner Summit, Nov. 6-7, and at the National Exposition 2018.
Newport was a project team leader for the Evangel Enactus team during 2016-2017. She will be serving as information director, one of the five officer positions, for the EU team during 2017-2018.
“Allison has the ability to manage projects with a clear vision of the desired outcomes. Her selection to serve on this national advisory committee is a tribute to her and to our entire Evangel team,” said Bernie Dana, Enactus faculty advisor and Sam Walton Fellow.
The 62 member Evangel Enactus team was recognized as one of the top 7% in the nation for 2016-2017 for demonstrating their use of entrepreneurial action to improve the livelihoods of people in a sustainable way.
