BNY Mellon Enactus Student Fellows Program selects four Evangel students

Published on Oct 26, 2017 by Paul K. Logsdon

Four Evangel University business students have been accepted into a fellows program designed to help them become certified in project management (PMD Pro), hone their entrepreneurial talents, and become better equipped with financial skills for the free market economy.

The 2017-2018 BNY Mellon Enactus Student Fellows Program will run throughout the academic year. The honored Evangel students are:

  • Joshua Clark, an accounting major from Willard, Mo.
  • Evan Masters, a finance major from Platte City, Mo.
  • Allison Newport, a management major from Andover, Kan
  • Shane Puente, a biblical studies major from Huntsville, Ark.

BNY Mellon is the corporate brand of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation.

BNY Mellon is a global investments company that delivers services in 35 countries and more than 100 markets. As of Sept. 30, 2017, BNY Mellon had $32.2 trillion in assets under custody and/or administration, and $1.8 trillion in assets under management.

The Program

Students who successfully complete the program will earn the designation of a Certified Enactus Student Fellow and receive recognition and celebration at the 2018 USA National Exposition in Kansas City. While there, they will enjoy a private reception with top executives from Enactus partner companies.

The BNY Mellon Enactus Student Fellows Program includes an online course in project management, culminating in a certification exam to earn an internationally-accredited project management certification in development (PMD Pro).

Following the online course, students will take Gallup’s Builder Profile 10 assessment, complete an online workshop exploring their entrepreneurial talents, receive coaching on their entrepreneurial talents with a BP10 coach, and be connected to an Enactus alumni mentor.

In the final phase, students will complete Common Sense Economics, an online course to help develop the financial skills required in a free market.

BNY Mellon has provided a grant to make this program available to 150 Enactus students across the United States in 2017-2018.  Enactus members were selected from an application process based on:

  • their history of leadership within the student’s Enactus team;
  • engagement with Enactus through events, advisory committees, and service hours;
  • the student’s resume; and
  • a short essay on why the student should be selected for the program.

“The 101 members of Evangel’s Enactus team are extremely proud of Allison, Josh, Shane, and Evan for receiving this national recognition,” said Bernie Dana, Enactus faculty advisor at Evangel. “They represent the amazing talents, dedication to excellence, and heart for service that made the Evangel University Enactus team one of the top 7% in the nation last year.”

Allison Newport is also one of 15 students selected from across the USA to serve on the Enactus Student Advisory Committee during the 2017-2018 school year.
