SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel University Orchestra will feature local hornist and faculty member, Eric Jackson, in its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the Robert H. Spence Chapel.

The concert will be free and open to the public.

The University Orchestra will perform three pieces on the program: An Outdoor Overture by American composer, Aaron Copland, Horn Concerto No. 1 by Richard Strauss and Symphony No. 8 in G Major by Antonin Dvorak.

Eric Jackson will be featured on the second piece as he performs the horn solo.

Dr. Larry Dissmore, professor of music, is the Concert Orchestra director. He is in his 29th year on the Evangel faculty.

“The University Orchestra is performing three different and interesting pieces on its fall concert: in the first, Copland captures the energy, playfulness, and vigor of youth as they enjoy time outdoors,” said Dissmore.

“In the second piece we are proud to present one of our gifted adjunct faculty as soloist, Professor Eric Jackson,” he continued. “The concert then closes with one of Dvorak’s happiest pieces of music – much like the weather we’ve had this fall.”
