Published on Feb 13, 2018 by Paul K. Logsdon

The Evangel University Orchestra and Sinfonia will present a joint concert on Feb. 27, with a program that includes classical selections, as well as folk/popular music arrangements for chamber orchestra.

The concert will be on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

The University Orchestra will perform various movements from Handel’s Music from the Royal Fireworks and the Water Music Suites. In addition, the Orchestra will perform Ravel’s Pavane for a Dead Princess, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat.

The Sinfonia’s portion of the concert will feature its trumpet section in Leroy Anderson’s Bugler’s Holiday. They will also perform Michael W. Smith’s Irish folk tune, Hibernia, and an arrangement of the traditional American hymn Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.

The program is under the direction of Dr. Larry Dissmore, director of orchestral activities and professor of violin and viola at Evangel since 1988.

Opportunities to excel
