SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – HeartSong, Evangel University’s traveling worship team, will host a night of live worship as they record their latest album on Thursday, April 11 at 7 p.m. in Spence Chapel. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
HeartSong is known for its powerful worship, high energy, and musical excellence. The group’s repertoire covers a variety of styles including contemporary, gospel, and traditional worship. They have recorded eight albums, with the last two, “Nothing is Impossible” and “We Give You Praise” reaching the Top 50 Christian music chart on iTunes.
The latest recording will include a mix of worship cover songs and originals written by HeartSong members Aidan Kelley, Caleb Moore, Tasia Saxton, and James Reynolds.
The team travels throughout the Midwest on weekends and on extended tours during Evangel’s spring break, ministering through song at events and churches. They have visited every state in the U.S. and most recently traveled to Rome, where they performed in 10 services during an eight-day visit in March.
HeartSong is directed by Dr. Bonnie Jenkins, chair of EU Assessment, and features the following EU students: Marcus Myvett, Aidan Kelley, Caleb Moore, Lexi Crowder, Kassidy Casterline, Christa Takitani, and Chase Kolstad (vocalists); JJ Lobato and Jenner Orozco (piano); Adrian Graves and Cameron Cochran (electric guitar); Abby Dement (drums); and Joel Sigaran (electric bass).
“HeartSong is finishing its 31st year and we are so excited to be ending the year by recording another album,” said Jenkins. “We hope this night of worship serves as an inspiration to all who attend. Recording an album live brings so much energy to what we do – the audience is a vital part of the process.”
