SPRINGFIELD, MO — Evangel University has revised its Fall 2020 traditional undergraduate schedule as a continued response to the coronavirus pandemic and in an effort to ensure the health and safety of its campus community.

The changes include moving the start date of fall classes up one week, now set to begin on Aug. 21, as well as the elimination of fall break and concluding the fall semester on Nov. 24, just before Thanksgiving.

The change will lessen the amount of travel during the fall semester, protecting students, faculty, and staff from increased risk of spread of the virus.

“We are dedicated to providing the best — and safest — community we can for the success of our students.” said Evangel President Carol A. Taylor, Ph.D. “We are monitoring the progress of the phased opening of the country and will continue to follow CDC and local public health guidelines for safety.”

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, university leaders from across campus have been working diligently to protect the Evangel community. An expanded task force was created through the University Planning Council with groups that address every area of campus life and how to best serve students, faculty, and staff during this time.

The schedule changes meet all Department of Education requirements for instruction. The university will work with any individual students who may need to extend their time on campus.

Students will return to campus to begin the Spring 2021 semester on Jan. 13, 2021.

The fall semester schedule for students enrolled in the university’s College of Adult and Graduate Studies and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary will not change unless otherwise noted.
