Senior Art Exhibit at Evangel University

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University Fine Arts & Design Gallery is featuring the works of four seniors through May 2, 2019. Admission to the art exhibit is free and open to the public.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is located in the Lawrence & Alletha Barnett Fine Arts Center, just south of the Spence Chapel, facing Glenstone Ave.

There are three seniors majoring in the department who have their work displayed:

• Stephanie Kelly from Watsonville, Calif.

• Trenton Blevins from Reeds Spring, Mo.

• Sarah Peacock from Nixa, Mo.

In addition, one senior minoring in photography has her “Peace Series” displayed:

• Abigail Land from Arlington, Texas

Art at Evangel

Evangel University is home to the state-of-the-art Lawrence & Alletha Barnett Fine Arts Center, which opened in 2002.

The Art Education degree at Evangel is for the creative art student seeking certification to teach art in elementary, junior high, or high school grades. EU’s program meets the Missouri state requirements for certification in Art Education, grades K-12.

Students who desire a well-rounded approach to artistic disciplines may earn a Bachelor of Arts in Art degree. The program requires 33 credits in art and is a good option for a double major. The department also offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, where students take 58 studio hours, with an emphasis on studio work or graphic design. Both combine art history and appreciation courses with practical expertise in various studio areas.
