Published on Feb 20, 2019 by Paul K. Logsdon

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University Sinfonia will embark on a nine-day Spring Tour, Saturday, March 9, 2019, and will perform eight concerts in Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska and Rolla, Missouri.

Each concert is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.*

Over the past 24 years, the Sinfonia has toured extensively throughout the 48 contiguous United States and Canada. Formerly known as the Concert Orchestra, the group has also traveled to Europe on five different occasions, most recently in May 2016 when it performed 15 concerts in Italy, Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

In addition, the group has recorded 12 compact discs, the newest of which is currently in production for a fall release.

The repertoire of the Sinfonia includes classical, sacred and contemporary Christian arrangements for orchestra, as well as various arrangements for voices with orchestral accompaniment. The 26-members of the Sinfonia are selected by audition.

Dr. Larry Dissmore, director of the Sinfonia, has served on the Evangel University faculty since 1988. An accomplished conductor and violinist, Dissmore holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Wichita State University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
