Published on Apr 7, 2017 by Mallory Johnson

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel University music education major Sydney Holland will present her senior vocal recital on Monday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall.

Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Holland is a voice student of Dr. Grace St. Pierre. She will be accompanied on piano by Dr. Linda Ligate, adjunct professor of music, and will be performing a duet with students Mikaela McGarrah and Joshua Little.

“Some of the most impactful people in my life have been my music teachers,” Holland said. “There is something about music that taps into a unique part of a person. Music teaches more than notes, it teaches about life, leadership and gives you a community to be a part of. I want to be able to cultivate that environment for students.”

Holland is the daughter of Chelle and Jimmy Holland and is a native of Kansas City, Mo. After graduation, she has plans to be a high school choir director.

“I had a teacher tell me once, ‘you will never be wealthy, but you will be the richest person you know,’” said Holland. “I am so excited and honored to take the skills and talents that I have developed here at Evangel to go into the world and love people.”
