Evangel University is obligated to comply with other states’ laws regarding the delivery of distance education to residents of other states. For purposes of this summary, distance education includes 100% online programs, hybrid programs that require some on-the-ground experience, certificate programs, and non-credit programs and/or courses that will be delivered to students residing outside the state of Missouri.
Evangel University participated in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) until July 12, 2024, which provided authorization to offer distance education in all U.S. states except California. California does not require authorization for online courses unless Evangel University has physical presence in California. Students enrolled at Evangel University before July 12, 2024 can continue classes through December 2024. After December 2024, Evangel University will need to be approved by individual states outside Missouri to continue serving their residents, and the University is seeking those approvals. Laws regarding distance education vary state-by-state, and even program-by-program within a state. Consequently, compliance with state authorization requirements is an ongoing process and requires input and cooperation from Evangel’s colleges and academic departments.
The chart below provides a summary of Evangel’s current status with each state. Numerous applications are in process and this summary will be updated regularly as responses are received.
Licensure Issues – This information only includes state authorization information. Licensure requirements are separate and can be found on the academic program pages of Evangel’s website.
