Overview
This year, 2026, marks the 120th anniversary of the start of the Azusa Street Revival that served as a catalyst for the modern Pentecostal movement. It was in Los Angeles, in April 1906 that a small group of Holiness believers experienced an outpouring of the Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence of speaking in other tongues that was very much like that which had occurred on the Day of Pentecost. God used a humble African American Holiness preacher, William J. Seymour to lead this great revival. The William J. Seymour Lecture on Thursday, September 17th, in the William J. Seymour chapel of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary will include presentations from Dr. Cecil M. Robeck, distinguished Pentecostal scholar and Professor Emeritus at Fuller Theological Seminary, Bishop Lemuel Thuston, chairman of the General Assembly of the Church of God in Christ, and Evangelist Glenda Goodson of the Church of God in Christ. All three presentations will focus on the legacy of William J. Seymour and the Azusa Street Revival.
