The Curious Savage

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Evangel University Theatre will present the classic comedy The Curious Savage Nov. 5-8 in the Barnett Theater on the university’s campus. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 5-7 and 2 p.m. Nov. 8, 2026.

Tickets are available in advance at The Box Office or at the door. Ticket prices are $25 for premium seating, $20 for adults ages 19-59, $15 for senior citizens ages 60 and older and students and children ages 4-18, and $5 for current Evangel University students with a valid student ID.

The Curious Savage follows Mrs. Savage, who inherits $10 million from her late husband and decides to use her fortune to help others pursue their dreams, no matter how unconventional. Outraged by her plans, her stepchildren have her committed to a sanatorium in hopes of gaining control of her inheritance.

There, Mrs. Savage encounters a community of wonderfully eccentric residents whose kindness, compassion, and humanity challenge conventional ideas of sanity. Blending humor with heartfelt moments, the play invites audiences to consider whether true madness lies within the walls of an institution or in a world where greed, selfishness, and the pursuit of wealth overshadow love and human connection.
